Secure and efficient: Google says Duo calls are end-to-end encrypted. Once you're in a call, you can mute your mic, swap between front and back cameras to change what your caller sees, tap your image in the bottom-left corner to make it swap places with your caller's image, and choose whether to use an internal or external mic. You also see recently called friends in the app's main window. If you want to call someone who doesn't yet have the app, find them in your friends list and click Invite to send them a link to the app. Make a call: When you click the Video call button, you see a list of friends who are running the app. Likewise, anyone with your number can contact you if you are both using the app. Uses your phone number: The app is based on your phone number and lets you call anyone in your contacts list who is also using Duo. Duo's interface is easy to navigate: Tap the Video call button to ring someone up, and tap to accept a call from a friend. If you don’t see the Meet features, but you’re sure you updated the app, you may need to sign in with a different Google account - those who set up Duo with a phone number only cannot access Meet features. If you still see the Duo icon, but the app has all of Meet’s features, you just need to go to the home screen prompt and accept the changes. In the rare instance where you are a Duo user who also installed the original Meet app, Google says the next update for the latter will give it a green icon. If it has, you’ll see the multicolor Meet logo instead.

To further reduce the confusion, Google has prepared distinguished app icons seen below - if you see the old blue one for Duo, the merger hasn’t updated your app. Foreseeing the need for help and clarifications during this change, Google’s support documentation for the transition is up already.ĭuo on Android and iOS will show you a banner on its home screen explaining the changes, so you don’t go on a wild goose chase for Duo in your app drawer.
